Born of the idea that humans can live harmoniously with each other and with their surroundings, finding depth in every surface, LifebyForm seeks to create and empower communities through impactful, sustainable solutions and conscious collaborations.
LifebyForm's founder, Rafi Elbaz, began his life on the shores of the Northern Israeli Sea, steeped in the country's history and mysticism. Later on, he and his father worked across Africa, where the intersection of ancient cultures, dynamic landscapes, and modern realities provided him with with an appreciation of how the built environment could impact communities to bring out the best parts of our humanity.
Rafi moved to New York in 1986 and graduated from the prestigious Cooper Union School of Architecture in 1995. Having studied and worked with masters like Peter Eisenman, Raymond Abrahams and Josef Paul Kleihues in Berlin, he continued his education in 2015 and taught at Harvard University's Graduate School of Design, honing his skills and worldview. Rafi has also shared his knowledge as adjunct professor at the Pratt Institute in New York, and Jerusalem University.
Rafi's accomplishments extend beyond helping those who wish to meld innovation, simplicity, and functionality. Outlets including The New York Times and Washington Post have recognized his work, while the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the PSI Moma in New York have exhibited his designs in their collection.
With LifebyForm, Rafi brings his understanding of the physical world to more people. Marrying his own devotion to the harmony between social responsibility, culture, and nature's essential elements, LifeForm presents an opportunity to create work that inspires those who dwell within interact/ participate/experience, and those who view from without.
